Sacraments
for Adults

A child must be in at least 3rd grade to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion.  Since there is a year of preparation prior to beginning study for the Sacrament, children who begin their preparation while in 2nd grade would receive the Sacraments while in 3rd grade. Our classes are separated by grade so that your children will be in class with people their own age (3rd & 4th graders, 5th & 6th graders, 7th and 8th graders, High Schoolers).

The first semester in the second year of study in the Sacramental Instruction program will focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  All children are required to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to the Sacrament of Holy Communion.  The children's Reconciliation Service is held in mid-April.  The second semester of study focuses on the Sacrament of Holy Communion.   The First Holy Communion Mass is the first Saturday in May.  All children will receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion together.  Saint Simon Parish does not perform individual celebrations of these Sacraments.  A mandatory parent meeting is held in early April to discuss the rules and policies surrounding these Sacraments.
