St. Simon the Apostle Parish is a spiritual home filled with warmth, sustained by commitment, made alive by involvement, and
inspired by faith. We take great pride in our unique identity.
We are filled with warmth. We are a parish of immigrants and their descendants;
a refuge for faith-filled people working hard to succeed in America. We are proud of our Slovak heritage and continue to promote it
as the home church of Chicago Slovaks. In recent years, we have proudly reclaimed our identity as an immigrant parish welcoming a
whole new wave of immigrants from Mexico, the rest of Latin America, Slovakia and Poland. We represent many cultures and speak many
languages, yet we strive to be a community united as one in Christ.
We are sustained by commitment. We treasure our traditions, but
actively seek to better our parish as it moves toward the future. We celebrate our commitment to God through the glory of our liturgy.
We live out our commitment by assisting the poor, caring for the sick and the elderly, ministering to the young, and supporting families.
We
are made alive by involvement. The dedication of our parishioners makes us what we are. Our worship, ministries, organizations, and
activities are made possible by scores of volunteers whose commitment leads them to become involved and active.
We are inspired by
faith. Our faith binds us together, as is evident in our work and our worship. We also share our faith with others, reaching out to
them and welcoming them to our conununity. Our faith calls us to become better people, dedicating ourselves to God, to our parish
and to one another. May we all heed the call!
